MISSIONS AT NCUMC

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

At Newport Center UMC, we believe in connecting with Jesus, with others and with the world. We support our missionaries, local community organizations, and international organizations through financial donations, gifts-in-kind, and volunteering.

GET INVOLVED

Each quarter we designate an organization to support both financially and through gifts-in-kind, such as school backpacks or Easter Spring Baskets. We also look for hands-on opportunities to serve within our community. Congregation members are encouraged to participate in these efforts.

The fall/winter season is a busy time for us, and this quarter we are supporting three organizations through our Alternative Christmas Market - Heifer International, Share Our Selves (SOS) and The Guatemalan Project – in addition to financial offerings to support UMCOR, a Los Angeles Lutheran Church, Laguna Beach Resource Center, and Long Beach Veteran’s Hospital.

Monthly we post volunteer opportunities in the narthex. We include a variety of possibilities – there is something for everyone!
