Hearing God in Nature

One thing I miss the most as a college student was the amazing sunsets. I was privileged to go to Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. My dorm room over-looked the Pacific Ocean and we could hear the waves crashing while we slept at night. Almost every day, I would take the time to enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the cafeteria steps or from my dorm window. One of my favorite memories is when my basketball coach would intentionally put our water jugs at the back steps of the gym so that we could look out over the ocean during our water breaks. I can’t even count the number of beautiful sunsets I saw from the back of the gym. Wherever I was on campus, the sunsets reminded me to slow down and listen to God. I have always been captivated by nature because God can easily grab my attention through its beauty. It’s easy to hear God in the beautiful sunsets even when life is crazy. I never realized how lucky I was to have such a view during my time there. It was a daily reminder to slow down, look at God’s beauty and listen.

Psalm 19:1-4 1, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. 4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun."
