First Time Visitors

Newport Center United Methodist Church

What Can You Expect as a First Time Visitor?

You'll find that when you visit us on a typical Sunday morning, the atmosphere is very casual and friendly. You'll be greeted at the door by our greeters and one of our ushers will give you a bulletin that has information about our church and the Order of Worship for the service. From there, you're welcome to take a seat anywhere you like. Don't be afraid to ask someone a question if you have one.

DO I HAVE TO DRESS UP?
Come dressed comfortably (shirt and shoes required, of course!); you'll see everything from jeans and golf shirts to dresses, coats and ties. Most people wear something akin to what you might call "Southern California casual." After all, you may want to hit the beach after worship. Mostly, come in what makes you feel comfortable. We welcome everyone.

SERVICE OPTIONS
We have two worship times, 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Our 8 a.m. Sunday morning service is a quiet, reflective, and slightly less formal service; it is shorter in length and much smaller in numbers than our second service.

At 10 a.m., we offer a service that has something for everyone. We have Sunday School for children, nursery care for infants, and modern worship for Jr. and Sr. High Youth. At the main worship service, we have a blend of traditional and modern worship elements. You'll find traditional hymns, sermons with a biblically relevant message, a choir that can sing everything from Brahms to gospel, and our pastor has even been known to play the drums on occasion.

If you would like to have your child(ren) participate in our nursery or Sunday School programs, look for our "Children's Ministry" table on the patio where you'll meet our Children's Ministry staff and register your child(ren) for Sunday School. Volunteers will be available to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go.

On the first Sunday of the month, we partake in Holy Communion at both services. Instructions for how this happens are always printed in our bulletin, and visitors are welcomed to participate or remain in their seats.

WE'RE HERE TO HELP!
Most importantly, we want you to feel welcome. There are always friendly greeters and ushers available to answer your questions or direct you to someone who can. If you would like to speak with someone before visiting, please call our church office at 949.644.0745. We hope to see you soon!
